The Centre of Nanotechnology was honoured to receive representative from Thermo Scientific.
They were given a tour of the lab and discussed about various machines
that were being installed during the development stages of the centre.
They then proceeded to give a presentation regarding the recently developed XPS
device that was given a makeover to make it more accesible to less specialised users.
   
    Its main uses are to obtain information regarding elemental contents,
surface analysis for thin films of both conductive and non conductive materials.

The Centre also was visited by representatives from Agilent Technologies who demonstrated
their 5500 Atomic Force Microscope (AFM).
The machine had an impressive range of capabilities ranging from in
situ AFM and elechtrochemistry to environmental control.
