Abstract : This thesis studies the stops which Abu Amr EL-Daany has stated in his book entitled "Muktafi fil waqf welepteda" for the verses of the first quarter of holy Quran. It investigates this topic to determine their types and discover the structural and semantic foundations of these types, To achieve this goal the study has followed the different procedures of research including collecting the places of the different types of stops in Al-Daany’s book, analyzing these places semantically, and defining their structural and semantic aspects to deduce their roles in the different places, The study has figured out four structural and semantic types of stops in Al-Daany’s book. They are the full stop “Taam stop”, the adequate stop “Kafy stop”, the fair stop “Hassan stop” and the ugly stop “Qabeeh stop”. In addition, the study has also conducted a set of structural and semantic foundations upon which Al-Daany has stated his four types of stops.
