Abstract : Date pits solid sorbent was successfully used for the removal and/or minimization of chromium (VI) in water samples. The influence of various parameters e.g pH, acidity, medium polarity, surfactant and chromium (VI) concentrations were critically investigated. The most probable kinetic model for the retention step of chromium (VI) onto date pits were assigned. Date pits packed columns were used for complete retention and recovery of chromium (VI) in water. The developed method was simple to operate and low cost than the conventional methods. The developed method could be extended for chemical speciation and continuous monitoring of different chromium forms in pigments industry. A differential pulse – cathodic stripping voltammetry (DP-CSV) method was developed for Pb determination. The method is simple and inexpensive and permits rapid, selective and accurate analysis of lead in water. The method compared favorably with the reported electrochemical and spetrochemical methods. The method provides sufficient precision and applicable without sample pretreatment.
