Abstract : This study aims to identify the electronic archive and some systems, electronic archiving available in the local market, and recognize the reality of the experience of the Emirate of Makkah region in the application of the electronic archive, and the payment established for the benefit of modern technologies in the conservation and retrieval of documents, and facilitate the communication process in the system management; in addition to by identifying the constraints and difficulties faced by the emirate during the transition to the electronic archive. The study was based on information collected about the experience of the emirate in the transition from traditional to Archive Archive-mail on the case method. Has emerged researcher set of results that the most important archive documents electronically in the Emirate of Makkah region has helped to raise the work efficiency and performance better than it was, and open new horizons in the provision of government services to citizens and other departments, where the electronic archive is the starting point towards e-government. The study recommended, inter alia, recommended by the need to continue the effort to complete the electronic archive in the emirate, and link it to the internal network and the database of the institution so can be used by all departments involved in the Emirate; and the need for cooperation between governmental and non-governmental organizations within the State in the field of information management in the electronic age.
